CA Fire Relief
The CZU Lightning Complex fires are wildfires burning currently in the Northern California. The fire complex consists of fires in San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties, including fires previously separately tracked as the Warnella and Waddell fires.
The fires started at 6:41 AM on August 16, 2020, the result of a thunderstorm that produced close to 11,000 bolts of lightning and started hundreds of fires throughout California. As of August 30 the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) reported it as covering 84,640 acres and being 35% contained.
It is currently reported that fires have destroyed 1,490 buildings, including a number of historic buildings in Big Basin Redwood State Park. There has also been 1 fatality.
PurTouch is headquartered in Santa Cruz County and we supply San Mateo County with sanitizer and wipes. These two counties are close to our hearts and have been hit hard by these fires.
PurTouch has always made a promise to give back to the communities that support us. PurTouch has made donations in excess of 2,000 cases of wipes to the fire relief aid in Santa Cruz and San Mateo Counties. We plan to stay involved and help both the first responders dealing with the disaster, as well as affected residents who will be picking up the pieces for a long time to come.
